Supertram issues travel advice for Tramlines Festival from 22 to 24 July

Stagecoach Supertram has issued travel advice for festival-goers travelling to the Tramlines Festival, which takes place from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 July.
With up to 35,000 visitors per day, and with easy access from both the Yellow and Blue tram lines, Stagecoach Supertram is gearing up for the extra demand by providing additional evening services on all days of the festival. The full daytime service will also run across all days.
Staff from Stagecoach Supertram will also be on the ground at the festival to help people with any queries and to help ensure the tram service runs smoothly.
As services are expected to be very busy, visitors to the festival are being encouraged to buy their tram tickets in advance, allow extra time for their journey and plan ahead.
Tim Bilby, Managing Director of Stagecoach Supertram, said: “We’re excited to be playing a big part in this year’s Tramlines Festival.
“With around 35,000 visitors expected each day, getting to the festival is so easy from our Yellow and Blue routes, and with extra evening services available travelling by tram, it’s a great way to travel.
“We are expecting services to be very busy so we are strongly urging people to plan ahead for their journey, buy tickets in advance and allow extra time for their travel. We’ll also have our team on the ground to help customers with any queries they have and to make sure everything is running smoothly.”
SYMCA Director of Public Transport Operations, Tim Taylor, added: “With excitement building for Tramlines, we’re asking fans to think about how they’re going to get to and from the festival site. Using public transport, walking or cycling is better for the environment and avoids the stress of event traffic and parking. As the festival’s name suggests, Hillsborough Park has great Supertram links and extra services will be running for Tramlines, plus plenty of buses. With thousands of people set to enjoy Tramlines, please plan ahead and check before you travel.”
Travellers are also being advised that due to the Women’s Euros football match taking place in Rotherham on Saturday 23 July, Tram Train services are expected to be busier than normal.
