Stagecoach commended in multiple awards and Citylink win 'Best Bus Service' at Scottish Transport Awards
- Citylink win ‘Best Bus Service’
- Stagecoach East Scotland commended for innovative mental health project
- Stagecoach’s joint venture, Scottish Citylink, named winner for ‘Best Bus Service’ at annual Scottish Transport Awards, representing all public transport modes in the country
- Commendation for ‘Public Operator of the Year’ and ‘Excellence in Travel Information and Marketing’ for Scottish Citylink
Stagecoach’s joint venture, Scottish Citylink was named ‘Best Bus Service’ across the Saltire Cross Network at last night’s (29 September) Scottish Transport Awards, with further two further commendations for Stagecoach. The operator was commended for both ‘Public Transport Operator of the Year’ award and ‘Most Innovative Transport Project of the Year’ category at its East Scotland business.
The commendation for ‘Most Innovative Transport Project’ came after the idea by Stagecoach to host a ‘well-being on wheels bus’ in partnership with SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health).
The mental health service hosts Sam’s Café drop-in sessions for anyone struggling with their mental health, experiencing suicidal thoughts, or seeking support in Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline and Leven. The two organisations worked together to provide the same level of support but in a mobile way so that they could reach more people in the community who needed it.
Along with its award for ‘Best Bus Service’, Scottish Citylink was also shortlisted and commended in the ‘Public Transport Operator of the Year’ award and ‘Excellence in Travel Information and Marketing’ award for its Restoring Customer Confidence campaign.
Sam Greer, Stagecoach Regional Director for Scotland, said: “After a challenging few years in the transport industry, these commendations are greatly received by all of us at Stagecoach and Scottish Citylink.
“Our teams work incredibly hard to deliver the best service possible and being recognised by Scottish Transport Awards is something we are all very proud of.”
Supported by the Scottish Government, Transport Scotland, Network Rail and The Railway Industry Association, the Scottish Transport Awards took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow last night (29 September).
