Stagecoach celebrates the power of connection this Better Transport Week

Stagecoach, the UK’s largest bus and coach operator, is proud to announce its official support for Campaign for Better Transport’s annual Better Transport Week, running from Monday 15 to Sunday 21 June.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating how better transport connects people and places,” perfectly aligns with Stagecoach’s ongoing commitment to providing sustainable, accessible, and high-value travel. As cost-of-living challenges continue to impact communities across the country, Stagecoach is using the week to demonstrate that choosing the bus is not only a green choice, but a financially savvy one.

To bring the theme to life, Stagecoach is shining a spotlight on the real heart of its network: the customers. Through three real-life stories, the operator is sharing how it helps people stay connected to the people and places that matter most, while making a savvy travel choice. It’s a simple reflection of the promise that sits behind the Stagecoach brand: we’ve got you.

Starting out without breaking the bank:

Going back to the year 2012, I had never been on a public bus before. I was just starting college and the best method of transport was the local Stagecoach 10 service. When I got on my first ever Stagecoach bus, I was met by a very friendly driver who helped me pick the cheapest ticket. The journey was smooth, quick and simple. Later on, I saw an advert for the Stagecoach Bluebird Uni-rider ticket which offered me unlimited travel throughout the whole of the North East of Scotland. It was such incredible value and I loved it. Flash forward to today, I regularly use various Stagecoach bus services to do all my travel. I love the services and find I can easily relax on board. Fantastic!

One less thing to worry about every day:

When I first came to town, everything felt new and confusing, but the bus I used to take to work made life so much easier. The service was always on time, and I could rely on it to get me to work without stress. What really stood out was how friendly the drivers were—they didn’t just drive, they made passengers feel welcome. Since I was new, they gave me advice on which stops to use and how to connect with other routes. That friendliness and reliability turned what could have been a stressful commute into something simple and smooth.

More than a journey, part of the community:

"I met a new friend on the bus when his shopping bag split across the floor. I got up to help him and discovered he was blind, and it was only his third time using the bus since losing his sight. We started chatting, and now we have a wonderful friendship. We see each other every morning on the way to work and even share a breakfast treat on our journey. I have Stagecoach to thank for a friendship I am incredibly grateful for."

The savvy choice for value and community

As families and individuals look for ways to stretch their budgets, Stagecoach continues to champion the bus as a reliable, cost-effective alternative to the private car. Beyond the clear economic and environmental benefits, Better Transport Week highlights the social value that local bus routes inject into society.

Debra Goodwin, Chief People & Customer Officer at Stagecoach, commented:

"Better Transport Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the vital role that buses play in our society. This year's theme resonates deeply with us. Our network isn't just about vehicles and timetables; it's about the people who use them. Whether it’s about their first experience travelling by bus, finding a moment of peace on a stressful morning commute or forging an unexpected friendship, these stories show that buses are the lifeblood of our communities.

“We’re proud to keep connecting the people and places that matter most, all while offering a savvy, value-for-money travel option.”
