Stagecoach donates £100,000 to Age UK to kickstart new charity partnership

  • Stagecoach pledged to donate up to 0.5% of profits each year to charitable causes across the UK

Stagecoach, the UK’s largest bus and coach operator, has announced its new partnership with charity Age UK and has donated £100,000 as part of its ‘Giving for Good’ community fund. Establishing clear targets to foster community development through charitable activities as part of its sustainability strategy, Stagecoach pledged to donate up to 0.5% of profits each year to charitable causes across the UK.

The donation from Stagecoach will help Age UK continue to provide practical support to older people to help change the way we age today and in the future. Age UK has a free national Advice Line, Telephone Friendship Service and The Silver Line Helpline that people can call free of charge for advice, support and friendship. Over 120 local Age UKs also provide front-line support in communities across the country.

Claire Miles, Stagecoach Chief Executive Officer, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to meet with the Age UK team in August to discuss the exciting opportunities our new partnership presents. As our flagship charity partner, we are planning to collaborate in many ways to support older people across the UK. With depot locations across the UK, I am optimistic that Stagecoach’s partnership with Age UK will truly flourish and benefit the local communities we jointly serve."

Hannorah Lee, Interim Fundraising and Engagement Director for Age UK, said: “We’re delighted Stagecoach share our vision of a world where all older people are included and valued. Their generous donation will help us be here today for older people today through our vital services, it will also change public attitudes to ageing to benefit us all in future years. This partnership is about so much more than funding. By acting together and using all our shared assets we aim to make a practical difference to older people through Stagecoach’s business and in communities nationwide.”
