Scottish Citylink celebrates Oor Wullie's Big Bucket Trail partnership with discounted travel

• 20% off travel in five biggest Scottish cities for trail participants
• Childrens charities to benefit from first nationwide public art trail
• Winning school competition designs to be displayed on Scottish Citylink coaches

Coach operator Scottish Citylink is celebrating its partnership with Oor Wullie’s Big Bucket Trail by giving discounted travel to those touring the Oor Wullie statues across the country.

The new Oor Wullie trail is the first ever nationwide public art trail and is being held to raise awareness and funds for a series of Scottish charities. As the trail’s Discovery Partner, Scottish Citylink is playing its part in getting as many people involved as possible.

The coach company is offering a 20% travel discount throughout the duration of the trail across all five cities involved – Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness. Discount codes are available when you download the ‘Oor Wullie’ app and the discounted travel offer applies to the below cities during the below times:

20% off travel to Glasgow between 5th – 8th July
20% off travel to Edinburgh between 12th – 15th July
20% off travel to Aberdeen between 19th – 22nd July
20% off travel to Dundee between 26th – 29th July
20% off travel to Inverness between 2nd – 5th August

The trail, which involves touring 150 large Oor Wullie statues positioned across the country, is giving a boost to three charity partners – The Archie Foundation, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

In addition, Scottish Citylink – a joint venture between transport groups Stagecoach and Comfort DelGro – recently held a competition with schools across Scotland, inviting them to design coach-themed Oor Wullie sculptures, with the five winning entries to be displayed on the side of the company’s vehicles and in local bus stations.

The winning schools are:

Alexandra Parade Primary School, Glasgow
Roslin Primary School, Edinburgh
Balloch Primary School, Inverness
Victoria Park Primary School, Dundee
Tayview Primary School, Dundee

Scottish Citylink Operations Director Peter Knight said: “We’re thrilled to be involved with Scotland’s first nationwide art trail and especially pleased that it involves one of Scotland’s most-loved characters, Oor Wullie.

“This innovative project will raise vital funds and awareness for these hugely important children’s charities while also allowing people to have a great time following this fantastic trail. Congratulations also to the winning schools for their excellent designs which we look forward to seeing on our coaches.”
