- Saltire cross network is reintroduced with hourly connections between six cities
- Additional Gold journey between Edinburgh and Inverness
- New direct journey between Edinburgh and Fort William
Scottish Citylink has today (Monday 20 May) announced service improvements for customers travelling across Scotland.
The coach operator will re-introduce its summer timetable providing enhanced services across the west coast routes whilst revising the Saltire cross network connecting six major cities and offering a simplified timetable with regular frequencies.
From today, the enhanced timetable will offer additional journeys and increased frequency across the entire network.
The Saltire Cross network will offer approximately hourly services between Glasgow and Edinburgh and Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness, either direct or with a change at Perth or Dundee.
More regular frequencies will be available on the Perth – Inverness section offering services every 60 minutes.
Services from Edinburgh to and from Perth and Dundee will increase to hourly.
Increased frequency between Glasgow, Stirling, Perth and Dundee will see journeys operate at least every hour.
The number of journeys between Glasgow and Aberdeen will increase to 21 daily, with departures at least every hour throughout the day and evening departures as late as 2330.
New weekend timetables across services M8 and 909 will be more similar to weekdays with additional services on both Saturday and Sundays. There will also be a new late evening departure from Edinburgh to Stirling and Cumbernauld during the Edinburgh Festival.
An additional daily Gold service will operate between Edinburgh and Inverness increasing the total number of direct journeys to three a day, allowing passengers more day trip opportunities.
The city of Stirling will also have enhanced services with a regular hourly service to Glasgow via Cumbernauld, earlier and later journeys and a two hourly service northwards to Perth and Dundee (M8 and 909 services)
Peter Knight, Operations Director for Scottish Citylink said: “We’re looking forward to introducing these new Summer services to our timetable. The coming months get increasingly busy with both local passengers and tourists taking our services, so we’re pleased to be able to offer these enhanced services across this great country.”
