East Midlands Trains unveils new refurbished waiting rooms at Leicester with free water filling stations
- Refurbished waiting rooms opening on Friday 1 February 2019
- New water filling stations free for customers to use
- Modern concept includes over fifty seats in each waiting room
East Midlands Trains has invested over £150,000 to provide improved waiting facilities for customers using Leicester station. In a first for the train operator, the waiting rooms will have a free water filling station for customers.
The refurbished standard class waiting rooms, which re-open today, 1 February, are located on platforms 1/2 and 3/4 and also feature new 32 inch departure board screens so customers can easily check the time of their train.
To celebrate the opening of the waiting rooms, East Midlands Trains will be giving away 500 free branded re-usable water bottles to customers at Leicester station on Monday 4 February as part of their #EMTreats campaign.
Rachel Rundell, Area Manager, Leicestershire for East Midlands Trains said: “We are really looking forward to inviting our passengers in to the new look waiting rooms this week.
“Being the first station on our network to have the water filling stations is fantastic and we look forward to seeing them in our other stations in the future.
“We hope our customers enjoy the refurbished waiting rooms, particularly during the current spell of cold weather."
East Midlands Trains is also working on the re-design of the toilets on both platforms at Leicester, with work starting towards the end of February this year to improve accessibility.
