In aid of Mind

East Midlands Trains customers raise over £14,000 for Mind charity

  • Innovative scheme allows customers to donate their Delay Repay compensation
  • Over £14,000 raised since March 2018
  • The mental health charity Mind provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem

East Midlands Trains customers have raised over £14,000 for Mind, just by donating their Delay Repay compensation.

Delay Repay, allows customers to claim money back if their journey is delayed by 30 minutes or more. Customers can continue to claim the money in a variety of ways, including bank transfer, cheque, PayPal or travel vouchers. This scheme also allows customers to simply tick a box and their compensation is paid, in full, to Mind.

Sarah Turner, General Manager for East Midlands Trains said: “We have been the UK’s most punctual long distance train operator for the last 10 years and we are working hard to get better. However, we know things do go wrong sometimes and when they do, it is very frustrating for our customers.

“We are overwhelmed by our customer’s generosity; it is an incredible amount for such a great charity that supports so many people.

Karen Bolton, Head of Community and Events Fundraising at Mind, said: “It’s wonderful to see East Midlands Trains customers donating so generously to Mind. The money raised through this scheme will help to ensure Mind can continue to be there for the one in four of us who experience a mental health problem every year, offering reliable advice and support to those who need it.”

Mind campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health problems. Mind’s support services and resources are vital. Last year the Mind Infoline answered almost 100,000 calls and their information was accessed 12 million times.

In addition to the money raised by East Midlands Trains Customers from the Delay Repay scheme, East Midlands Trains has donated a further £2076.46 to Mind from the sale of lost property items which have remained unclaimed for at least six months.
